A dancing fundraiser supported by several Marketing Derby Bondholders has raised £11,000 for local charities.

The Derbyshire Unstrictly Dancing Fundraiser, held at the University of Derby’s Kedleston Road campus, brought together an inspirational line-up of Bondholders, local businesses and the community

They swapped their boardrooms for the ballroom to raise funds for The Lewis Sewell Memorial Trust and Umbrella Derby and Derbyshire.

It was organised by Deputy Lieutenant of Derbyshire Theresa Peltier and Jonathan Leach of Indigo Drum Communications.

The evening was an outstanding success, packed with dazzling performances, live music and show dance spectacles.

Headline sponsors included Cosy DirectVibrant Accountancy and the University of Derby, with the event generously supported by many other local businesses.

The coveted Unstrictly trophy was lifted by Gillian Sewell, chair of The Lewis Sewell Memorial Trust and Lewis’ mum, after a powerful, emotional routine with dance partner and choreographer Ben Edwards that visibly moved the entire room.

Gillian said: “Dancing in memory of my son Lewis was one of the most emotional and uplifting experiences of my life.

“The warmth and love in the room was overwhelming. I’m so proud of what everyone achieved together, not just raising funds, but creating an unforgettable night that brought people together through courage, laughter, and compassion.”

Ann Rowlands, chief executive of Umbrella Derby and Derbyshire, said: “This event has been a beautiful reminder of how powerful community can be.

“Every dancer, sponsor, organiser and guest played their part in making a difference to local lives.

“And it was wonderful to see one of our young people, Morgan, expertly take to the dance floor.

“We’re so grateful to be part of something so special and can’t wait to see what next year brings.”

Marketing Derby Bondholders featured heavily among the performers, with dancers including Dean Jackson (HUUB), Ian Morgan (Derbyshire County Cricket Club), Bev Wakefield (Vibrant Accountancy), Tracy Harrison (Safe and Sound), Anna Upton (Embark Federation) and Stuart Allen (Derby Theatre), taking to the dancefloor.

Co-organiser Jonathan Leach said: “To see so many Bondholders stepping out of their comfort zones for such brilliant causes was incredibly inspiring.

“Events like this showcase the heart of Derbyshire’s business community, generous, bold, and always ready to support one another.”

The £11,000 total includes £8,000 for The Lewis Sewell Memorial Trust and £3,000 for Umbrella Derby and Derbyshire.

Theresa and Jonathan have confirmed the event will return in 2026.
