Flex office provider Cubo has announced it is to open a second workspace in Derby – with law firm Geldards as its flagship occupier.

The private equity-backed firm has taken a new lease on Number One Pride Place, on Pride Park, which was formerly Geldards’ Derby office.

The new Cubo, which is due to open in June, will feature 18,000 sq ft of office accommodation arranged over three floors, with 450 desks available.

The new site will complement the accommodation already available at the Cubo workspace at The Old Post Office on Victoria Street, which was the first Cubo to open its doors back in March 2020.

The Pride Park location will take the total number of sites across the UK to 11.

Geldards will move into the new Cubo once work is completed towards the end of June.

In the meantime, the firm has temporarily taken office space at Derby Museums’ Museum of Making.

This latest collaboration with Cubo follows Geldards’ recent successful relocation in Nottingham to Cubo’s Standard Court facility.

Chairman David Williams said: “We have worked with Cubo for over a year to develop our East Midlands property strategy.

“Having successfully achieved our first move for the Nottingham office, it was time to do the same for our Derby practice.

“Cubo is one of the country’s leading developers of innovative working spaces for progressive businesses.

“This partnership enables Cubo to continue their impressive record of expansion whilst at the same time delivering a modern facility and professional working practices for Geldards.”

Founded by Marc and Becky Brough, Cubo provides SMEs and tech companies with an environment where they can develop and thrive.

Member benefits include large communal spaces, private areas, break-out spaces, kitchens, an inclusive barista service with beer on tap, along with a programme of free networking events.

Marc Brough, chief executive at Cubo, said: “Cubo and Geldards have a brilliant relationship and following our successful deal in Nottingham we are delighted to accommodate them in our new Pride Park Cubo, with works currently underway ready to welcome them into the building in June.

“Crucial to Cubo’s success to date has been our strong desire to replicate identical amenities and facilities site by site and we are excited that the Geldards’ team will be able to enjoy exactly the same quality of environment they currently have in Nottingham.”
