Derby Museums Trust
Derby Museums is an independent charitable trust that operates three museums in the heart of the city: Derby Museum and Art Gallery, the award-winning Museum of Making, and Pickfords’ House.
Together, the museums care for and share collections of local, national and international significance, including the world’s largest collection of works by Joseph Wright of Derby. Through exhibitions, events, learning programmes and creative activities, Derby Museums connects people with the city’s rich heritage of art, industry and innovation.
As a National Portfolio Organisation supported by Arts Council England, Derby Museums welcomes more than 200,000 visitors each year and plays an important role in Derby’s cultural, educational and visitor economy.
Derby Museum and Art Gallery is home to internationally significant works by Joseph Wright of Derby alongside collections of archaeology, natural history, military history and world collections, complemented by a changing programme of exhibitions and events.
The Museum of Making, which received a Special Commendation in the European Museum of the Year Awards 2024, celebrates Derby’s remarkable 300-year history of innovation. Located within the Derwent Valley Mills UNESCO World Heritage Site, it inspires visitors through interactive displays, hands-on experiences and a fully functioning workshop.
Pickfords’ House offers a fascinating glimpse into Georgian life within the former family home of architect Joseph Pickford, exploring how people have lived, worked and spent time at home from the eighteenth century to the present day.
“Being a Marketing Derby Bondholder provides valuable opportunities to connect with organisations across the city, build new partnerships and champion Derby together. As a cultural organisation rooted in the city’s history and future, we are proud to work alongside fellow Bondholders to help raise Derby’s profile, attract visitors and support economic growth.”
