Consultancy Armsons Barlow is playing a key role in delivering a new educational facility at a site belonging to Derby College Group.

The Derby-based project managers, construction cost consultants and building surveyors is part of the team delivering the new East Midlands Institute of Technology (EMIoT) building at the college’s Roundhouse Campus.

Construction work has already started on the 1,100 square metre state-of-the-art building, which will feature classrooms and collaborative workspaces, providing students with a hands-on and immersive learning experience.

The aim of the EMIoT is to address the increasing demand for skilled professionals and in-technology related fields. It will equip students with future-ready skills necessary to meet the evolving demands of the workforce.

The project is a partnership between Derby College Group, Loughborough University, Loughborough College and University of Derby, working with key industry players such as Rolls-Royce, Toyota Manufacturing UK, Alstom and Bloc Digital.

The development is set to be completed and ready for opening in September.

Armsons Barlow is working alongside a team, which includes architects YMD Boon on the project, providing project management services.

Sally Walters, director at Armsons Barlow, said: “We are thrilled to be a part of this transformative project which will shape the future of education and training in the East Midlands.

“Our role as project managers underlines our commitment to ensuring that this groundbreaking initiative is successfully executed to bring together education, industry, and cutting-edge technology.”

Over the past 50 years, Armsons Barlow has been involved in many award-winning schemes, including transforming the historic Roundhouse into a £51 million engineering, technology, and construction campus for Derby College Group.
