Students given insight into modern business world

Students at Derby College Group gained valuable insight into the realities of the modern business world at an event backed by East Midlands Chamber.

Recently, the college’s Roundhouse campus welcomed representatives from the chamber and a range of local employers, including Juggling Octopus, Pretty Decent and Broadhurst Digital for the Insight into Business event.

The session provided a practical look at how businesses develop from an initial idea through to marketing, branding and ultimately sales.

During the event, students explored key aspects of running and growing a business, including identifying target customers, understanding how different business functions work together, and how innovation and new technologies such as AI are shaping the future of industry.

Curriculum manager Lorna Edwards said: “Opportunities like this allow our students to hear directly from industry professionals and understand how the skills they are developing through their studies translate into the real business world.

“It helps bring their learning to life and inspires them to think about the wide range of career paths available.”
