A new film capturing Marketing Derby’s recent London Embassy event has been released.

Put together by GoldBox Productions, the short film, which can be viewed here, tells the story of the event, which this year saw over 200 guests gather inside the Old Library at the Grade I-listed Guildhall, the City of London’s civic and ceremonial centre.

Bringing together Bondholders, investors, ambassadors and politicians from both the Houses of Lords and Commons, the aim of the London Embassy is to raise the profile of Derby and highlight its suitability as a place to invest.

This year, the embassy heard how inward investment and education have key roles to play in tackling Derby’s inequalities.

Backed by headline partner Smith Partnership – along with event partners the University of Derby and Repton School, the embassy heard presentations from a number of keynote speakers, including city leaders, investors and academics.

Among them were Councillor Baggy Shanker, leader of Derby City Council, who spoke about the many exciting developments in the city that are due to come to fruition.

Professor Keith McLay and Dr Jenna Waters, both from the University of Derby, talked about how the university’s civic activities are making a real impact on both the city and county.

And Helen Gordon, chief executive of Grainger Plc, explained why her company had decided to invest in Derby’s first-ever build-to-rent apartments scheme – The Condor.

As well as the speeches, the London Embassy was also a great opportunity for attendees to network.
