MiniAperture Photography is raising money for Derby County Community Trust through the sale of an iconic image taken of Derby County’s Pride Park Stadium.

Laura Firth, founder of MiniAperture, has set up an online store where people can purchase limited edition prints of the drone image she took of the Rams’ stadium.

She has announced that 5% from each sale will be donated to Derby County Community Trust, the Rams charitable arm, which is involved in a number of projects that benefit the community.

Laura captured the image back in 2021 as part of a project for Marketing Derby to photograph key areas of the city.

Derby County loved the image so much they decided to adopt it and use it for a variety of purposes, including media backdrops, a season ticket campaign and the club’s app.

Its most recent use came in December last year when the club had a full-size mural of the image installed at Harrison’s Hub.

At the time, Derby County said: “When searching through a myriad of images that conveyed Derby County’s relevance to the city, its surroundings and population, we were presented with Laura’s otherworldly photography, which dramatically encapsulated the club’s ‘One Club. Resilient. Together. We Are Derby’ philosophy.”

Explaining the work that went into capturing the image, Laura said: “With the theme of the project in mind, I knew an essential element of the image would be the city itself, so I decided that the city skyline would be the backdrop to my canvas.

“To add some drama and to make the stadium stand out as the main focal point, I needed the sun to be nestled directly behind the stadium, just below the horizon, and I also needed the stadium lights to be on. Not forgetting the right weather conditions too of course!

“This wouldn’t be the easiest endeavour at the best of times, but this was during the peak Covid years.

“Timing the sunset with an evening match and around Covid restrictions took patience, but it certainly paid off.

“It’s brought me a lot of joy to see the different ways the club have used it over the years.

“It seemed only fitting to continue using the image to spread a little joy, which is why I’m donating part of the proceeds from this year’s run of limited edition prints back to Derby County Community Trust.”
