An evening of traditional Scottish ceilidh dancing and food has raised more than £20,000 for YMCA Derbyshire.

The event, held last month at Derbyshire County Cricket Club, was backed by Cosy, Vaillant and Handelsbanken.

As well as dancing and food, guests heard from the charity’s president and Lord Lieutenant of Derbyshire Elizabeth Fothergill CBE, chairman Julian Smith and chief executive Gillian Sewell.

The funds raised will enable YMCA Derbyshire to continue changing lives by providing vital support and opportunities for young people and communities most in need.

From mental health support, training, education, and work-based programmes, every pound helps young people and communities build the foundations for a safe, fulfilling, and independent future.

In a statement, headline sponsors Cosy said: “We were proud to sponsor and attend such a joyful event.

“The energy in the room was incredible, and it was inspiring to see the community come together, and attempt dancing, for this great cause.”
