Recruitment staff are a tour de force

Staff at recruitment firm Blue Arrow have raised over £10,000 for a charity which makes dreams come true for seriously ill children from a Tour de France-style challenge.

Around 120 staff from the firm recently took part in the Tour de Bleu, which challenged them to cover every mile that it would take to travel from office to office in the Blue Arrow network.

The distance they needed to cover totalled 2,068 miles – from as far north as Inverness, right down to Southampton.

Covering the ground as individuals or a group, they were allowed to use whatever method they wanted, including cycling, running, walking, as well as virtual cycling and running.

The challenge took place throughout June and together the staff raised £10,120 for Blue Arrow’s charity partner Make a Wish Foundation UK.

The firm wants to thank everyone who donated, including a number of Marketing Derby Bondholders.

Sean Clare, Blue Arrow’s Derby business director, who himself took part covering 34 miles on his exercise bike, said: “It was an idea that came together through our employee voice group of which I’m part of.

“We wanted to come up with something that could allow anyone to take part and it quickly built momentum within the Blue Arrow community, especially when we made it possible to cover the miles in whatever method you wanted.

“We set an ambitious target of £10,000 in donations and I am so proud that we have been able to make this happen for such a great cause.”
