Bondholder Derbyshire County Cricket Club (DCCC) has won the Blast It Communications Campaign at this year's ECB Business of Cricket Awards.

Staged at the Ageas Bowl, Southampton, the awards recognised DCCC for its Local Rivals Collide campaign – the marketing concept behind the sold-out Vitality Blast clash versus Notts Outlaws at The Pattonair County Ground in July 2019.

The Club, in partnership with Performalytics, set about making an efficient and targeted use of its data to maximise all marketing spend to achieve the first sell-out in the local derby since 2013.

The Club also teamed up with its counterparts at Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club on a video series in which players went head-to-head in challenges away from cricket. It recorded an over 40% increase in the number of advanced tickets sold for the fixture.

Tom Skinner, Media and Marketing Manager at DCCC, declared: “As a small county we pride ourselves on punching above our weight.

“We have such a tight unit as a club with players and off-field staff. The players understand the hard work we do and the success they’ve had on the field has helped us to push things off the field. I’d like to think that works both ways and our hard work in attracting fans through the gates helps their performance. It’s been a successful year for the club all round.”

In a joint nomination with Performalytics, the Club is also in contention for the Data and Business Impact Award at the Sports Industry Awards 2020, taking place on Thursday 30th April.
