Food and Drink Awards to celebrate alfresco dining masters

Due to the pandemic, we have all had to get used to eating outdoors – and at this year’s Marketing Derby Food and Drink Awards, we aim to recognise and celebrate the very best place for a bit of alfresco dining.

More than 30 finalists will be vying for honours across the 12 categories – and judges are now in the process of visiting these businesses to help them decide on the winners.

The winners will then be revealed at a glittering awards ceremony, which is set to take place at the Chocolate Factory on Monday 18 October.

A hotly contested award is Best Outdoor, which is a new category for this year.

From a beer garden to a designer patio area for dining, the winner of this category will need to have a space which is imaginative and much more than a couple of benches on the lawn!

The shortlisted finalists for this year are The Bell & Castle, Bustler Market and The Cottonworks.

The award is being judged by category sponsor ACE Sameday Couriers.

Edd Cunliffe, sales executive at ACE Sameday Couriers, said: “Over the past year and a half the hospitality industry has faced probably the most adverse conditions that any of us can remember.

“We feel that it is hugely important to celebrate and support a sector that has had to adapt massively in order to survive, whether this be through offering deliveries/ take outs or through creating outdoor areas.

“We wish the people involved in this area the best of luck in the future.”

This year, more than 3,000 nominations were received for the Marketing Derby Food and Drink Awards from members of the public, business leaders and food and drink establishment owners.

Each award, apart from Excellence in Customer Service, is judged by its category sponsor.

The overall Marketing Derby Food and Drink Awards Winner for 2021, sponsored by Denby Pottery, and the award for Outstanding Achievement, sponsored by Royal Crown Derby, will also be revealed at the awards night.
