Safe and Sound Group

Since 2002 Safe & Sound has been working to end child sexual exploitation. We provide direct support to children and young people in Derbyshire under the age of 18 who are being, or at significant risk of being sexually exploited, together with their families. We also offer services such as an Independent Sexual Violence Adviser (ISVA) to support young people through the Criminal Justice System (CJS) following CSE and a Transitions Worker, to help reengage young victims of CSE and those at risk in education, training, employment and/or other positive activities that can help build their self-esteem to move forwards positively and live independent lives. We are committed to raising awareness of the issue within schools and community groups and firmly believe in early intervention in these environments to prevent young people becoming victims of child sexual exploitation in the first place. We work at a national level to support the development of policy and response to the sexual exploitation and trafficking of children and young people.

We became a Bondholder as we believe it is important for Derby to have strong relationships between the private and not-for-profit sectors in order to help make the city more attractive to investors and with this support, provide a space for the not-for-profit sector to grow and thrive.

We think that the awareness raising, prevention work and support we provide to children and young people at risk of sexual violence, abuse and exploitation across the county, contributes to making Derby a safer place for employers and their families to live.

We hope that working closely with businesses in the city as a Bondholder will contribute to our aims of raising awareness of child sexual exploitation to prevent it from happening to children and young people in our local communities.

We would like to see even more businesses in Derby supporting the work of their local charity sector, advocating for more social change in their own communities.

We think a greater variety of sectors is key for Derby's growth - across voluntary, arts, culture, retail and hospitality as much as it is the corporate and manufacturing sectors that naturally thrive in the city.

It is the variety of offer and the culture of working cross-function and cross-sector that we believe will enable existing businesses to expand and to attract new businesses into the city.

Derby has a great network of small local independent charities and not-for-profita that work closely together and with the local authorities to improve the welfare of Derby communities and support those that are more vulnerable, making Derby a better and safer place to live. We're proud to be a part of this.
