Marketing Derby Bondholders are being urged to put forward local voluntary groups for the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service (QAVS).

Nominations are now being accepted for the award, which recognises and celebrates the fantastic work of voluntary groups.

Equivalent to an MBE, a QAVS is the highest award given to local voluntary groups in the UK and is awarded for life.

It is for exceptional groups of volunteers who are making a positive impact in their communities and benefiting others through their work.

The award is specifically aimed at the volunteers, even if there are paid staff in the group.

A current holder of a QVAS is Children First Derby, which received its award in 2020.

For next year’s awards, nominations can be submitted up to 15 September.

Nominated groups are assessed initially by Derbyshire Lieutenancy and then by national assessors, with the awardees announced in June next year.
