A £100 million urban village project backed by Derby City Council and delivered by Compendium Living and Lovell Partnerships has been shortlisted for a top regional award.

Castleward has been named as a finalist in the Residential Regeneration Project of the Year at Insider’s Midlands Residential Property Awards.

Located between Derbion and the railway station, it is a long-term placemaking project, being delivered over a period of 15 to 20 years.

Once complete, Castleward will provide around 700 new homes, as well as green space and nearly 35,000 sq ft of commercial retail space.

Planning permission has recently been granted for the fifth phase of the scheme.

Castleward is among 54 projects, companies, deals and people vying for prizes at the awards, which celebrates the region’s thriving housebuilding sector.

Insider deputy editor Ian Griffin said: “This is yet another very strong line-up for these awards, which have established themselves as a must-attend event in the region’s business calendar.”

The winners will be announced at a black-tie dinner in Birmingham on 18 June.
