The University of Derby’s halls of residence have been named the best in the country for the fifth consecutive year.

It was recently awarded the Best University Housing title at the Global Student Living Awards.

The awards are based exclusively on direct feedback from hundreds of thousands of students around the world every year.

They provide a national benchmark of the quality of student accommodation services, with the Best University Housing Award (UK & Ireland) given to the university accommodation provider with the highest overall satisfaction score.

In addition to the award, the university’s student living team retained their platinum accreditation, the highest a provider can achieve.

Steve Ward, head of student living, said: “We are delighted to have secured the Best University Housing award again at this year’s GSL Awards.

“To win the headline award for five years running is an incredible achievement and a fantastic endorsement of the work our staff do.

“The result demonstrates how strong our accommodation offer is at Derby, with our teams continuing to deliver a sector-leading service.

“It is really pleasing to see that our students have again rated the services they receive from us so highly.”

The student living team were shortlisted in seven categories at the awards: Best University Housing, Best Customer Service, Best Student Wellbeing, Best Student Broadband, Best Moving In Experience, Best Booking Experience and Best Environmental Management.

The University of Derby offers a wide choice of accommodation options for undergraduate, postgraduate and international students.

Its Residence Life Programme offers free and subsidised activities and events, helping students build a strong community and make the most of their university experience.
