Toyota has announced details of the new Corolla, which will be built at its factory in Derbyshire and will go on sale next year.

According to the firm, the 2023 Corolla features a refreshed design with new exterior features and colours and harmonised new interior trims, upholsteries and finishes.

It will also feature new technology and improved performance across the entire Corolla range.

Toyota said: “While the visible exterior and interior updates are an evolution of the 12th generation Corolla’s design, more significant changes have been made to the powertrain and electronics.

“With fresh styling, the introduction of fifth generation hybrid electric technology, a comprehensively upgraded digital user experience and an extended range of Toyota T-Mate safety and assistance features, the new Corolla is equipped to strengthen its role as a core volume model for Toyota in Europe.

“Its enduring appeal is reflected in the fact it has just achieved its highest market share in Europe in its history and is Toyota’s second best-selling model in the region.”

The cars will be built at Toyota’s Burnaston factory and will go on sale in Europe during the first quarter of next year.

Toyota said that details of the UK model range, specifications and prices would be announced later.
