The Derby City Lab – read all about it!

A new edition of Derby City Lab’s very own newspaper, ‘Engage’, is now available!
Back in 2023, Marketing Derby produced the very first edition of the newspaper to help spread the word about what was happening at the lab’s first incarnation in St James’s Street.

Then, in 2024, to mark its move to a unit inside the Derbion shopping centre, a second edition was produced.
Now, a third edition has ‘hit the newsstands’ – with its front page celebrating the fact that Derby City Lab is now located inside the restored Derby Market Hall.
The newspaper explains what Derby City Lab is – and its purpose, which is to engage, inform and inspire people about Derby’s exciting regeneration story.
It showcases the tools inside the lab, which are designed to help visitors easily access and visualise the city’s latest developments.
They include the Derby City Model, a detailed 3D model of the city centre, which features familiar landmarks, new developments and those in the pipeline.
Also featured in the latest Engage is a new innovation – a specially commissioned interactive touch screen kiosk, supplied by Hardy Signs, featuring an interactive development pipeline.
The edition features Derby’s development map, which highlights completed projects, those currently being developed and schemes yet to come.
And there is also an article about Derby City Lab’s new home – the beautifully restored Derby Market Hall, which opened back in May following a £35.1 million restoration.
Finally, the latest edition of Engage contains details about Marketing Derby’s 2026 Insider Tours, free to Bondholders, which start and finish at Derby City Lab.
Adam Rodgers, inward investment executive at Marketing Derby and Derby City Lab lead, said: “We’re delighted that our latest edition of Engage is now available.
“It felt right to produce another edition to mark the lab’s next chapter here at Derby Market Hall.
“We hope as many people as possible drop by to pick up their free copy.”
Hard copies of the latest edition of Engage are available at Derby City Lab.
