Sweet accreditation success for honey business

Honey producer Littleover Apiaries is savouring the sweet taste of success after gaining an important accreditation for food safety.

The business, which is one of the UK’s leading producers and suppliers of English honey, has received Safe and Local Supplier Approval (SALSA) certification.

The SALSA standard is written by experienced food safety experts to reflect both the legal requirements of producers and the enhanced expectations of ‘best practice’ of professional food buyers.

Approval certification is only granted to suppliers who are able to demonstrate to a SALSA auditor that they are able to produce and supply safe and legal food and are committed to continually meeting the requirements of the SALSA standard.

This includes passing an audit covering food safety, staff training, materials handling and storage, safe transportation and maintaining records for full traceability.

In a statement, the company said: “We are happy to share that we are now SALSA accredited.

“For more than 20 years we have constantly improved our experience and knowledge of beekeeping, honey harvesting, processing and manufacturing.

“So, when you buy from Littleover Apiaries, you can be extra confident that we know what we are doing and our entire management team and staff are all highly qualified and committed to providing customers with the very best honey available in the UK.”
