Smart building tech firm claims UK first

Smart building technology firm Scenariio is claiming a UK first after achieving a coveted data cabling certification.

The Derby firm has become the first company in the UK to achieve CommScope’s new GigaREACH XL installer certification.

GigaREACH XL is a type of copper data cabling designed to carry both network data and electrical power over longer distances than standard network cabling.

It helps connect equipment such as security cameras and Wi-Fi access points in areas that would otherwise be harder to reach.

Scenariio has already delivered GigaREACH XL across many customer projects.

The new certification formally recognises the team’s knowledge of how to design, install and test the system.

Based at Innovation House in Derby, Scenariio helps organisations across the UK connect their buildings and the technology within them, from everyday IT networks to security, meeting room systems and smart lighting.

Behind the latest achievement is a story stretching back almost 40 years.

Founder Rob Pritchard’s relationship with the SYSTIMAX and CommScope technology family began long before he established Scenariio in 2013.
