Derby Rotary Club is appealing for more volunteers to help with its annual Santa and Sleigh tour around the city, which raises vital funds for child exploitation charity Safe and Sound.

Santa and his elves, along with staff and volunteers from the charity, have already started touring the streets of Derby to bring Christmas cheer to families who then donate to the cause.

From now until 23 December, they will be out in Derby every night, raising money, which makes a real difference to the charity.

However, more volunteers are needed as elves to support Santa’s work.

Lindsey Hatfield, commercial development manager at Marketing Derby, volunteered as an elf last year – and is doing so again this year.

She said: “It’s so lovely when families come out of their houses and you see the looks on the children’s faces when they see Santa.

“I would urge anyone who has some spare time to join me, share in the fun, spread some joy and raise money for this important charity.”
