Derby QUAD has been selected as the first UK cinema to trial smart glasses designed for deaf and hard-of-hearing film-lovers.

It is offering its cinema-goers the chance to use WatchWord closed captioned glasses.

Developed by Built for Good with support from the UK Cinema Association and Innovate UK, the glasses aim to make it easier for those with a hearing loss to follow what it is being said.

WatchWord does this by broadcasting the captions to the glasses.

Subject to availability, the glasses will be available for screenings of different films, until Sunday 11 February.

Those who use the glasses will be asked to give feedback by completing a brief survey.

To be part of the trial contact QUAD’s Box Office team at info@derbyquad.co.uk.
