Planning & Design Practice has announced it has partnered with Down to Earth Derby after joining its corporate sponsorship programme.

With links to Cornwall’s eco-focused Eden Project, Down to Earth is an organisation which is helping to spearhead plans for a nature-led regeneration of the city centre.

PDP shares Down to Earth’s values and vision, so decided to become a supporter.

Since then, Down to Earth has called on the firm’s design expertise – sprucing up the toilet area of its Bold Lane community garden and events space, known as the Electric Daisy, which opened in June last year.

The team at PDP used their DIY and creative skills to transform a utilitarian looking Portaloo into something more in keeping with the tranquil garden vibe of the venue.

The team of six helped decorate the interior, while outside, they made cladding and trellis, upcycling old sheds and bits of salvaged wood.

The design inside the toilet was created using acrylic paints and now hand painted electric daisies adorn the walls.

Ross Nicholson, business strategy and scalability lead at Down to Earth Derby, said: “A big shout out to Planning & Design Practice for becoming a corporate sponsor – and for a great day at the Electric Daisy converting our shabby toilet block into something which blends much better with the community garden and events space.

“A brilliant day’s work, which means we can now crack on with letting nature do its thing – growing stuff up, in and around it.”

The new toilets are ready in time for the relaunch of Electric Daisy this year, with the venue set to reopen on Friday 29 March.
