Outdoor centre set to celebrate a decade of adventure
Mount Cook Adventure Centre is set to throw open its doors to the public to celebrate its 10th year of operation.
Founders Robin Sibson and Colin Adams opened the Wirksworth outdoor activity centre a decade ago with a mission to provide access to the outdoors for all, especially young people and those who might not otherwise have the opportunity.

To celebrate the landmark, Mount Cook will host a special anniversary event on Saturday 18 July.
Running from 10am to 4pm, the event is open to everyone and will celebrate the community whose support has helped shape the centre’s growth over the past 10 years.
A range of activities, including the Rooftop Rider zip wire, archery, high ropes and bushcraft, will be available to book on the day.
Entry is free, and visitors can also enjoy free games, crafts and self-led activities throughout the event.

Madeline Horton, sales and marketing manager at Mount Cook, said: “We see this as the perfect opportunity to say ‘thank you’ to everyone we’ve worked with over the last 10 years.
“We’re incredibly grateful to all the businesses, charities and organisations that have visited us as guests or worked alongside us.
“We’ve grown into something truly special, and that’s cause for celebration.
“We’ve welcomed more than 70,000 people over the last decade, many of whom are from Derby and Derbyshire.
“Teaching people about the importance of engaging with nature and helping them to enjoy the beautiful local countryside safely has been one of the most rewarding parts of our journey.”
