A new photo book celebrating the wonder and beauty of Derbyshire’s Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site has been launched.

Initially commissioned in 2014 by the Arkwright Society, which is responsible for Cromford Mills, the 228-page hardback book, called The Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site: A Photographic Record, features the work of its official photographers Ashley Franklin and Ian Daisley, as well as 50 other local photographers.

It features nearly 500 images, with Ashley’s extensive collection spanning two decades as the centrepiece.

Curated into three thematic sections—Industrial Heritage, People & Places, and Wildlife—the book encapsulates the valley’s historical significance, its communities, and its rich biodiversity.

A free exhibition of some of the photography included in the book will be on display at Cromford Mills until the end of December.
