Rebuild East Midlands, a charity which supports survivors of modern slavery, is calling on fellow Bondholders to support its winter fundraising appeal.

The organisation launched its Winter Appeal before Christmas to help fund additional hours for its support delivery team, so it can provide vital practical and emotional support to individuals in Derby and Derbyshire who have experienced slavery and exploitation.

The demand for Rebuild’s support is greater than ever, but currently it does not have the resources to support all individuals in Derby who need it.

Donations to the appeal are being matched by the Aviva Community Fund until 24 January, and the total raised so far sits at £6,995.

The £10,000 target for the appeal will secure an additional two days a week over 12 months for a support delivery project worker.

According to Rebuild, this time could make a massive difference to someone who is living in uncertainty, often without a permanent home, on low income, in perilous situations seeking asylum and unable to feel at peace.

It is now calling on the support of Bondholders to help hit its fundraising target so that more individuals in need will benefit from guidance, care and assistance to rebuild their lives.

Lesley Gladwell, chief executive at Rebuild East Midlands, said: “The support delivery team does amazing work with our individuals and has a massive impact on how people move on from their trauma and rebuild their lives.

“We are very grateful for any support which will help fund sessions of ongoing one-to-one support, assisting individuals to secure safe accommodation, education, employment or health care.”
