Electronics manufacturer Tioga has donated thousands of pounds to a breast cancer charity following a month-long fundraising push.

To mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is organised by the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Tioga staged competitions and challenges throughout October to raise cash.

It saw its staff compete against one another, with the contests taking place in the firm’s newly refurbished Tioga Lounge.

The finals were all played at a special event, where staff were given the afternoon off to enjoy food and drink, as well as spend money on various fundraising stalls, including raffles and bingo, to which a number of local companies donated prizes.

The firm also created a Tioga Pink Calendar, featuring images of staff, to raise cash.

The staff ended up raising £3,500, which was matched by managing director Warwick Adams, making a grand total of £7,000.

Warwick said: “It is fantastic that we managed to raise so much towards helping fight this horrible disease.

“We have two ladies who have worked for Tioga for many years who have gone through breast cancer treatment and have shared their journey with us. Hopefully, they have come out of the other side.

“Unfortunately for them it will never go away. What they have been through is inspiring and shows how strong they both are, physically and mentally.”

Warwick said that he would like to thank the companies who donated prizes to the firm’s raffle – and paid tribute to the staff who took part.

He said: “I’m very proud of everything we achieve at Tioga. We couldn’t do it without all the loyal and caring people that have made Tioga the great company we are today. A heartfelt thank you to you all.”
