Geldards has successfully advised a build-to-rent developer on the sale of a Derbyshire residential development site to a major housebuilder.

The law firm advised Wise Living on the sale of Amber Drive – a brownfield site at Langley Mill – to housebuilding partner Keepmoat.

The site had sat disused for a number of years before a £1.3 million injection from the East Midlands Combined County Authority.

The £25 million residential scheme to be built by Keepmoat will comprise 119 energy-efficient houses and apartments and provide much-need rented housing for the local community.

Geldards’ commercial property team advised Wise Living on all legal aspects of the sale, led by partner Heather Dixon and supported by solicitor Sarah Jackson.

Heather said: “With excellent connectivity in the heart of the East Midlands, the site offers a superb opportunity for Keepmoat to create a new build-to-rent neighbourhood.

“This site created some technical and planning challenges, and the scheme will include the remediation of brownfield land.

“It was a pleasure to work alongside all those involved and we are delighted to have helped bring this development opportunity to fruition.”
