Firms urged to up cyber protection strategies

Tech firm DNS is urging local businesses to reassess their cyber protection strategies in order to stay a step ahead of the hackers.
According to the Derby-based IT and cyber security specialist multi-factor authentication (MFA) alone is no longer enough to keep hackers at bay.

It has issued a call to action following growing evidence that cybercriminals are successfully bypassing MFA.
The firm says that relying solely on MFA gives a false sense of security and leaves organisations vulnerable to increasingly sophisticated threats.
DNS advises businesses to work with trusted cyber security partners who can help assess current vulnerabilities and deploy a multi-layered security framework tailored to their needs.
In a statement, DNS said: “MFA is no longer the silver bullet it once was.
“Attackers are using tactics like phishing, social engineering and token theft to sidestep MFA protections.
“It’s time for businesses in Derby and beyond to take a layered approach to cybersecurity.”
