Property company Hortons has secured planning consent to create around 270,000 sq ft of new light industrial and logistics space at Sinfin Commercial Park.

The approved scheme will deliver up to 17 new units across the 23-acre site, which is adjacent to Rolls-Royce’s civil aerospace site.

Units will range in size from 5,000 sq ft to 70,000 sq ft, targeting EPC A and incorporating strong sustainability credentials.

Features include electric vehicle charging, photovoltaic solar panels and landscaped green amenity spaces to enhance the estate’s environmental credentials.

Hortons intends to deliver the new units in phases over the next three years, with the first phase expected to commence this summer.

The approval builds on the ongoing transformation at Sinfin Commercial Park, which has already included the demolition of a redundant 207,000 sq ft warehouse to enable the masterplan.

Works are also nearing completion on Unit F, a comprehensively redeveloped 63,000 sq ft industrial/warehouse unit that will shortly be ready for occupation.

James Slater, from Hortons, said: “Securing planning approval is a significant step forward in our vision to reposition Sinfin Commercial Park as a leading industrial and logistics destination for the East Midlands.

“This redevelopment will deliver a high-quality, sustainable scheme that responds directly to occupier demand for modern, energy-efficient space and reflects our commitment to unlocking the full potential of the site.”

The retained agents for the scheme are Avison Young and Innes England.
