Derby LIVE has announced that a bank holiday weekend of music and family events in Darley Park is set to return this summer following the success of last year’s event.

The Darley Park Weekender will return this August bank holiday with concert classics, 80s beats and Ibiza sounds.

Held over three days, the weekender took place for the first time last summer – and proved a big hit with the public.

This year, it will return with the addition of some icons from the 1980s.
Kickstarting the weekend on Friday 26 August is the return of Classic Ibiza, a celebration of the sounds of the Balearics.

On Saturday 27 August, people can wallow in 80s nostalgia with T’Pau singer Carol Decker, Nik Kershaw and DJ Pat Sharpe.

To end the weekend, the Darley Park Concert returns on Sunday 28 August, celebrating a year of anniversaries from the Queen’s Jubilee to Sinfonia Viva’s 40th anniversary.

Councillor Ross McCristal, cabinet member for leisure, culture, tourism and wellbeing at Derby City Council, said: “This year’s Darley Park Weekender promises to be something really special. After the success of the event last year, I am delighted to welcome it back.

“With the Classic Ibiza event on the Friday, the new addition of 80s Mixtape on Saturday followed by the popular Darley Park Concert on Sunday, this event will be even bigger and better than before.

“With a range of events suitable for everyone to enjoy, this weekend really adds to the city’s cultural offer and will make Darley Park the place to be this August Bank Holiday.”

Early bird tickets are now available for the Darley Park Weekender. For more information about the event and to book tickets visit www.derbylive.co.uk.
