Corolla van achieves awards hat-trick

A vehicle built at Toyota Manufacturing UK’s Derbyshire plant has scooped an industry award for the third year running.

The Burnaston-built Toyota Corolla Commercial has recently been named Small Van of the Year once again in the Van Fleet World awards.

The vehicle is a full hybrid small van based on the Corolla Touring Sports passenger car

The conversion process removes the rear seats from the Touring Sports model, creating a 1,326-litre load space.

The conversion also includes a full metal bulkhead and rubber-lined cargo bay.

John Kendall, Van Fleet World editor, said: “It’s a third time win in succession for the Corolla Commercial, which, for the moment at least, has no real competitors.

“Even if it did, it has carved out a useful niche for itself. Its load area is accessible from both sides and the rear and it’s easy to drive with Toyota’s latest generation hybrid system introduced last year.”
