Consultancy’s planning success for hospital

Planning & Design Practice has helped the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust secure planning permission for a key building on Pride Park.

The consultancy’s planning team has successfully secured permission to change the use of the Johnson Building, freeing up much-needed space at Royal Derby Hospital.

Currently, the hospital site is being used for health record storage and office space.

There is limited space at this site, with the priority for any available space needing to be for clinical use.

The Johnson Building provides the space needed for storage, without impacting on other hospital uses.

The building is currently occupied by Derby College and Derbyshire Healthcare United – and is being used for educational purposes and a call centre and associated offices.

The approved proposal will allow for continued use by Derby College for educational purposes, alongside additional educational space for UHDB training, as well as health record storage and associated office space.

It is the latest planning success Planning & Design has secured for the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust.

At Royal Derby Hospital, the firm secured permission for a three-storey ward extension, a new operating theatre, a new day patient ward, and a temporary ward to help address winter pressures.

Planning & Design is currently working to deliver a new medical centre, further ward extensions and a multi-storey car park.
