City set to host major national youth conference
Sporting Communities has announced it will be holding a major new conference at the University of Derby, which aims to widen the conversation around young people’s views, aspirations and issues.
Taking place on 6 September at the university’s Kedleston Road campus, the Youth Innovation Conference will bring together young people and professionals to co-produce solutions to issues young people face today.
This will be done through an array of workshops and discussions.
A top line-up of guest speakers is also being assembled for the event.
The Youth Innovation Conference is being organised by Sporting Communities, which is a community and social development specialist, along with its partners.
In a statement, Sporting Communities said: “The current youth offer is influenced by an adult-led or institutional agenda.
“We aim to address this imbalance by involving young people and professionals in co-produced solutions to many of the pressing issues that young people face today.
“Young people want their voices and imaginations to influence change. The conference will provide an opportunity to harness young people’s energy and sense of optimism.”
