Child exploitation charity Safe and Sound is celebrating after receiving a national award recognising the partnership which helped make its new Derby city centre hub a reality.

The charity was recently presented with the Partnership of the Year Award at the National Charity Today Awards 2025.

The award honours Safe and Sound’s ambitious redevelopment of 8 Bold Lane, which transformed a derelict building in the city centre into a vibrant new headquarters and community hub for children, young people and families affected by or at risk of exploitation.

The success of the project was made possible through a collaboration with local and regional contractors who gave their time, expertise and commitment to bring the vision to life.

The charity has extended its thanks to the project’s key partners, including Davlyn Construction, Armsons Barlow and Sigma Architects.

The new hub has enabled Safe and Sound to significantly increase its service capacity to support young people affected by exploitation.

Its youth-led design ensures the new space meets their needs with features like a creative hub, kitchen and fast Wi-Fi.

At the same time, it has brought a vacant building back to life, contributing to the overall regeneration of Derby city centre.

Tracy Harrison, chief executive of Safe and Sound, said: “This award is a testament to the incredible teamwork and shared passion that brought 8 Bold Lane to life.

“Our partners went above and beyond to help us create a safe, inspiring space for young people and families who need us most.

“We are truly grateful for their commitment and for this national recognition.”
