Bondholders urged to get their ‘games faces’ on

Marketing Derby Bondholders are being invited to recapture their childhoods and compete in a series of fun sporting challenges as the Derby Business Games returns for another year.

Sponsored by Juggling Octopus, The Derby Business Games will this year take place from 4pm to 8pm on 26 June at Derby Rugby Club, in Haslams Lane.

It aims to bring companies together for a fun ‘school sports day for adults’, featuring rounders, races and a post-event barbecue.

Teams of eight from businesses are being urged to enter, while smaller companies and solo entrants will create mixed teams.

This year, a percentage of the entry fees will be donated to specialist child exploitation charity Safe and Sound, which has also helped organise the event.

Following a similar format to previous years, teams will compete in a rounders tournament, followed by individuals and pairs going head-to-head in mini events, including wheelbarrow and egg and spoon races.

The event will then finish with the tug of war and a ‘welly wanging’ finale before crowning the team with the most points accrued.

Organiser Will Evans said: “The feel of the event is an old-school sports day for grown-ups that should know better, and the events are planned so that there is something for everyone to get involved in and enjoy.”

The cost of the event is £350 per team with free entry for family, friends and colleagues to see the action and to cheer on their teams.

There will be plenty of activities for spectators to take part in too, including a food and drink offering (teams will receive complimentary food vouchers).

All are welcome to stay on at the rugby club for drinks after the event.
