Marketing Derby Bondholders are being urged to sign up to an annual fundraising quiz which has so far raised almost £500,000 for an end-of-life charity.

Each year, the Derbyshire Brain Game brings together more than 300 local business professionals for an evening of black-tie elegance, fine dining, challenging quiz rounds, and most importantly, charitable fundraising for Marie Curie.

It is organised entirely by a volunteer committee made up of local business professionals from companies such as Bowmer + Kirkland and Clowes Developments, along with dedicated individuals who have shaped the event into the major success it is today.

Last year, the event hosted at Derby County’s Pride Park Stadium, raised £66,042, contributing to the nearly £500,000 total raised since the Derbyshire Brain Game’s inception.

This year, the event will once again take place at Pride Park Stadium on Thursday 9 October.

It will be backed by joint headline sponsors PKF Smith Cooper and Work Wallet, with the drinks reception sponsored by MasterMover.

Based in Derby, Work Wallet’s technology supports major enterprises in over 30 countries, helping global teams stay safe, compliant, and connected wherever they work.

Marie Curie provides care and support for people with any illness they are likely to die from, including Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, advanced cancer, heart, liver, kidney and lung disease, motor neurone disease, and Parkinson’s.

The charity delivers expert care in people’s homes, at its hospices, and through a free information and support service available to anyone affected by dying, death or bereavement.

Marie Curie community fundraiser for Derbyshire, Matthew Nickson, said: “The Derbyshire Brain Game is a vital fundraising event for us annually, and we’re delighted it is back for another year.

“Palliative and end-of-life care relies on the fundraising efforts of supporters like the Derbyshire Brain Game committee, and all those who attend to raise an incredible amount of money annually, to support Marie Curie to continue providing support to dying people, and their loved ones, at the most important time.”
