Following the recent announcement of the shortlist of finalists for the Marketing Derby Food and Drink Awards, the countdown has now begun towards the event itself.

More than 30 finalists will be vying for honours across the 12 categories – and judges are now in the process of visiting these businesses to help them decide on the winners.

The winners will then be revealed at a glittering awards ceremony, which is set to take place at the Chocolate Factory on Monday 18 October.

A hotly contested award for this year will be the Most Family Friendly category.

This award aims to recognise the food and drink business that goes extra mile to give families an all-round great experience.

Going for the award this year will be The Crossbar, at Chellaston, Morley Hayes and The Coffee House at Derby Museums.

The Coffee House at Derby Museums will be looking to defend the title it won in 2019 when the awards were last hosted.

In a statement issued shortly after that 2019 win, it said: “This is a fantastic achievement for our team who work so hard to ensure all of our visitors have a great experience, we couldn’t be prouder.”

This year, the Most Family Friendly Award will be judged by category sponsor MiniAperture Photography.

Owner Laura Firth said: “I’ve always been passionate about helping other businesses to shine, so becoming a sponsor of the Marketing Derby Food and Drink Awards was a very easy decision to make.

“We’re incredibly lucky to have so many fantastic independent businesses in Derby.

“After the impact of the pandemic I want to help support and celebrate these businesses now more than ever.”

This year, more than 3,000 nominations were received for the Marketing Derby Food and Drink Awards from members of the public, business leaders and food and drink establishment owners.

Each award, apart from Excellence in Customer Service, is judged by its category sponsor.

The overall Marketing Derby Food and Drink Awards Winner for 2021, sponsored by Denby Pottery, and the award for Outstanding Achievement, sponsored by Royal Crown Derby, will also be revealed at the awards night.
