Retail property interest grows as restrictions lift

BB&J Commercial has reported a growing interest in the retail sector after securing a deal for premises close to the Derbion shopping centre.

The commercial property firm has agreed to let the Traffic Street unit, which is opposite Derbion.



The property is also close to the Nightingale Quarter, which is an 800-home residential scheme being built by Wavensmere Homes and the £100 million Castleward scheme, which is being delivered by Compendium Living.

It compromises a ground floor sales area, suitable for restaurants, cafes, or hot food takeaway.

Oscar Heap, agency surveyor at BB&J, who agreed the letting, said: “We are delighted to have agreed the letting of Traffic Street in a swift fashion, having received strong interest in the property.

“The location of the commercial unit makes it an attractive proposition to businesses, with close proximity to the Derbion – and the pending completion of close to 800 homes at the former Derby Royal Infirmary site.

“As restrictions have started to lift, it is brilliant to see growing interest in retail premises throughout Derby.

“It will be great for the sector, which will no doubt continue to bounce back in the run up to Christmas.”
