Prospective buyers wanting to get their hands on one of the new homes being built in the historic Nightingale Quarter are being urged to keep the leap year date free.

Wavensmere Homes are planning the launch of sales for the two and three bedroom homes on Saturday 29 February – after receiving over 2,000 enquiries from people who registered their interest in being first in line to buy the 125 homes.

The developer said the popularity of the homes was ‘unprecedented’ for them, so had made the date, which is synonymous with proposals, so buyers would have a fair and equal chance of purchasing the first wave of releases.

New images of the Nightingale Quarter site are available for prospective buyers on the newly launched website.

A new website www.qderby.co.uk has also been launched prior to the event to promote the development, so prospective buyers are able to see exclusive images and information.

Donna Smith, Sales Director for Wavensmere Homes said: “We will be open, by appointment and invitation only to pre-qualified purchases, at the end of the month in a prominent city centre location for our buyers to come and sign up to buy one of the most exciting developments in Derbyshire. We of course have been thrilled, but not surprised by the popularity of the Nightingale Quarter development and huge amount of people wanting to be the first to live there.

“The day will be for buyers to have an exclusive chance to get the first 125 homes, and we will have haart Derby estate agents, along with solicitors on hand for each person to have the legal guidance so they know they will be owners of that plot of land. It’s a really exciting time for us all, and we know there is going to be a real buzz in the room as everyone can finally be a part of this historic development,” she added.

There are currently over 100 groundworkers by Derby-based M. Lambe Construction on site preparing the land for the first brick to be laid shortly, and the VIP sales day is the first step for many in becoming homeowners.

Donna added: “I think people being able to see the land finally start to take shape, after there has been so many false starts over the past five years since it was levelled, really shows that this is happening and we are a step closer to making this a reality.”

In total there will be 800 homes built on the 18-acre site in the £150 million development, and the second wave will be released later this year.

Planning permission was granted early last year by Derby City Council, and Wavensmere directors were careful to keep the iconic Pepperpot structures available for the whole community to enjoy and continue being major landmarks of the city. They will be transformed into a community hub café, exhibition space, gym and meeting rooms.

The Infirmary’s iconic pepper pot buildings will be retained for community use, with residents having access to numerous facilities including a café, gym, exhibition space and meeting rooms.

It was also revealed last year that the cost of homes start for a two-bed property at £185,000 and for a three-bed property at £220,000. Help to Buy is also available for first time buyers.
