Derby Cathedral is set to host as special thanksgiving service where YMCA Derbyshire will reflect and celebrate almost 180 years of changing lives.

The service, which will take place at the cathedral on Wednesday 14 October, from 3pm to 5pm, will see the charity celebrate the past, present and future with music, stories, reflections and artwork.

YMCA Derbyshire is set to embark on its 180th year – and the event will see it look back on 179 years of ‘impact, faith and community’.

It will celebrate what the charity achieves in the present day – and the lives of young people it helps change  for the better on a daily basis by providing accommodation, new skills and employment.

And it will explore how YMCA Derbyshire is responding to the future.

During the event, the charity will also say ‘thank you’ and ‘farewell’ to its outgoing chief executive, Gillian Sewell, as she retires after 26 years of dedicated service to YMCA Derbyshire.
