Document Network Services is reflecting on 30 years of growth, innovation and evolution within the technology sector.

Founded in 1996 in Macklin Street, DNS began as a photocopier sales business serving local organisations.

Today, the company, now based on Pride Park, has evolved into a managed services provider, delivering managed IT services, cyber security, unified communications and managed print services to customers across the UK and internationally.

From its early days providing print solutions in Derbyshire, DNS now supports organisations nationwide and globally with the latest technology solutions.

DNS was established in 1996 by Darren Marsh, then aged 25, driven by a passion for supplying photocopier equipment to businesses across Derby and Burton.

Four years later, the company relocated to Pride Park, positioning itself at the heart of the city’s business community.

Since then, DNS has continued to adapt alongside rapid technological change, expanding its services, moving offices, growing its team and entering new markets.

Darren, who is managing director at DNS, said: “I started in the industry at 18 years old, and I was 25 when DNS was established.

“What began with ambition, hard work and a belief in doing things the right way has grown into 30 years of trusted partnerships and continuous evolution.”

A defining feature of DNS’s success has been its longstanding customer relationships.

Many organisations have partnered with DNS for 10, 15, 20 years and beyond, with some customers remaining with the business since its earliest days.

Over the years, DNS has also grown into a diverse and highly skilled team, with many employees building long and successful careers within the business.

Business development executive Jonathan Clements is DNS’s longest serving employee, having joined the company in 2009.

He said: “Over the last 17 years, I’ve discovered how much I enjoy building strong relationships and helping customers solve problems.

“I genuinely love being part of DNS – the banter, the laughter and the people make it a great place to work.”

Team members have also advanced into leadership and specialist roles across IT, cyber security, sales and service delivery.

Sales director Hugh Sutherland joined DNS with a strong background in production print and has since progressed to oversee sales, new business development and marketing.

He said: “What started as a print-focused organisation has grown into a technology partner supporting customers across managed IT, cyber security, unified communications and cloud services.

“Technology never stands still and neither do we. DNS has always been built on strong relationships and trust, and I’m excited about the next chapter.”
