Planning consultancy helps charity improve facilities
Planning & Design Practice has been helping children’s charity Over The Wall Camp secure permission to enhance facilities at its new Derbyshire base.
The firm secured permission to improve facilities for the children’s residential activity camp at Ockbrook School, also known as The Settlement.

The project focused on practical improvements – including a modest extension and carefully considered external changes – to support the day-to-day running of a residential camp, such as kitchen and dining facilities.
However, the application was not straightforward due to the history of the site.
In a statement, Planning & Design Practice said: “Even straightforward-looking proposals can become more complex when they sit within a conservation area and a heritage-rich environment.
“In places like the Ockbrook Moravian Settlement, councils need reassurance on the details – not just what’s being proposed, but how it will sit within the character of the area.
“That’s where the right planning and heritage input helps – not by making things more complicated, but by presenting a clear, confident case that anticipates the questions decision-makers will ask.”
