White Peak Distillery is celebrating after being shortlisted for two international awards.

The Ambergate distillery’s single malt whisky, Wire Works, has been named as a finalist in two categories at the Online Scotch Whisky Awards (OSWA) 2025.

The firm has been shortlisted for Best New Distillery (Category Six) and is a finalist in the Best World Whisky (Category Eight) category for its Wire Works Bourbon Barrel.

According to founder Max Vaughan, White Peak Distillery is at the forefront of a changing international whisky scene, challenging long-held assumptions about where whisky is made.

He said: “To be recognised alongside other major global whisky brands – and to see English whisky now standing alongside the world’s most respected producers – shows just how far the category has come.

“It’s proof that outstanding whisky doesn’t only come from Scotland, Ireland, Japan or the US. It’s being made right here in Derbyshire.”

White Peak Distillery laid down its first casks nearly eight years ago with a vision to create an English single malt whisky defined by a sense of place and rooted in English provenance and heritage.

This month, that journey takes another defining step with the launch of Wire Works Port Cask, the third whisky to join the newly-named Wire Works Provenance Core Range.

The new whisky is a vatting of fresh Tawny Port barriques with oak ex-bourbon barrels, creating a spirit that bridges the richness of port with the vibrancy of White Peak’s spirit.

The Wire Works range of whisky sits alongside White Peak Rum and Shining Cliff Gin.

With award-winning packaging, White Peak says these bottles make distinctive and thoughtful corporate gifts, ideal for clients, partners, or team recognition.
