Orchestra’s new season is music to the ears

Sinfonia Viva has embarked on its biggest ever season of concerts in Derby.
The city-based professional orchestra will be performing numerous concerts at Derby Cathedral and Derby Museums’ Museum of Making from now until June.

Featuring in two concerts is Karen Ní Bhroin, who this year performed with Claudia Winkleman at the BBC Proms as conductor of a celebration of music from BBC TV smash hit The Traitors.
For Sinfonia Viva, Ní Bhroin conducts a selection of Beethoven’s music at Derby Cathedral on Wednesday 19 November 2025 in a specially curated one-hour concert.
Lucy Galliard, chief executive of Sinfonia Viva, said: “Because of the enthusiasm of audiences around Derby in recent years, we’re increasing the number of concerts we’re performing so that residents can enjoy a really wide variety of classical music, from some of the most popular works ever written, to pieces they are unlikely to have heard before.
“It’s great to be bringing Karen Ní Bhroin to Derby, and I’m sure her skill and infectious enthusiasm will really resonate with audiences of all ages.”
