Marketing Derby Bondholders involved in the education sector have been reflecting on a stellar performance by their A Level students.

Last week, the latest A Level results were released – and Derby College Group, Derby High School and Repton School have all hailed the performance of their students.

At Derby College Group, the majority of students secured the grades they needed to take up their first-choice university places.

A closer look at the figures shows that 327 students completed A Levels this year, with more than three-quarters achieving higher grades.

Psychology delivered exceptional results – half of the cohort earned A* to B grades, alongside a 100% pass rate.

Other high-achieving subjects included Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English Language, Business Studies and Media Studies.

Criminology maintained its popularity as the most chosen subject, taken by over a third of all A Level students.

An impressive three-quarters achieved grades A* to C, and again the pass rate was 100%.

DCG also broadened its curriculum this year, offering Arabic, Urdu and Russian for the first time.

In addition, 101 students completed the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), with 50% gaining an A* or A grade.

This challenging programme develops advanced research and independent learning skills that are highly prized by universities and employers alike.

Sally Archer, head of A Levels at Derby College Group, said: “This year’s results are a testament to the effort, resilience and determination our students have shown throughout their studies.

“We are immensely proud of what they have achieved and the positive foundations they have built for the future.”

As well as A Levels, 85 students at DCG also completed their T Levels, which combine classroom learning with real-world industry placements.

A quarter achieved a Distinction – the equivalent of three A grades at A Level – and 91% achieved a Merit or above.

Brian Maylan, vice principal for technical and vocational education, said: “These results showcase the dedication, skills and ambition of our T Level students, alongside the quality of teaching and the strength of our employer partnerships.”

Elsewhere, Derby High School also celebrated outstanding A Levels success.

Its students excelled, with almost half of all grades awarded at A*–A, with an impressive 25% of all grades at A*.

68% of all grades were awarded at A*- B. One third of our students achieved all A* and A grades and six students achieved at least 3 A* grades each.

Head Amy Chapman said: “This is a moment of celebration, not just of excellent academic results, but of the values, character and resilience our students have shown throughout their time with us.

“What matters most to us as a school is not just where they go next, but who they are becoming.

“We are proud of every single student, not only for their achievements on paper, but for the way they have approached their studies, supported one another, and grown into confident, compassionate young adults.

“We wish them every success and happiness as they begin this exciting new chapter.”

Finally, Repton School also celebrated a remarkable set of A Level and BTEC results.

This year, 46% of all entries were awarded an A* or A grade, and 79% achieved grades between A* and B.

These impressive outcomes have enabled many Reptonians to secure places at some of the most prestigious universities in the world including Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard and Princeton.

In total, 31 pupils achieved straight A* and A grades.

Headmaster Mark Semmence said: “At Repton, we encourage every pupil to set their sights high, and it is inspiring to see so many of them realise those ambitions.

“Their success speaks volumes about the determination, perseverance, and intellectual curiosity they have shown throughout their time here.

“It also reflects the expertise, care, and encouragement of our dedicated teaching and examination teams, who have supported them at every stage of the journey.”
