Videogame developer shows backing for Rams
Videogame developer Bulkhead has spoken of its pride after becoming a shirt sponsor for Derby County.
Earlier this month, the firm’s logo began to appear on the sleeves of the first team shirts after it signed a deal with the club.
As part of the deal, the Bulkhead logo will remain on the shirts for the remainder of the 2023/24 season. They also appear on the shirts of the Under-21s and the Women’s First Team.
The Bulkhead branding also appears on stadium advertising on matchdays.
Based in Derby, Bulkhead was originally formed in 2014, producing indie titles The Turing Test and Battalion 1944.
In 2022, the studio was acquired by Splash Damage, and has since grown to 120-plus in-house employees, working on a new title called Wardogs.
The Bulkhead logo first appeared on the Rams’ shirts during their 3-2 victory against Burton Albion at Pride Park Stadium.
Joe Brammer, chief executive at Bulkhead, said: “Video Games is one of the biggest industries in the world. Bulkhead are the underdogs in video games, just how we like it in Derby.
“We’ve been here for over a decade and kept a low profile. But we are proud to make video games in Derby.
“We love this city, so it’s time for us to get better connected with our community and start shouting about the great things coming out of Derby and there is no better way to do that than by backing the Rams.”
Stephen Pearce, chief executive at Derby County, said: “The partnership with Bulkhead is another example of the club’s appeal to a local and successful enterprise demonstrably pushing the boundaries of its business far and wide whilst championing the city.”
