Planning & Design Practice has helped redesign and secure planning permission for an extension to Belper Rugby Club’s clubhouse.

The planning consultancy has helped the club expand its facilities following a rise in the number of teams and players.

According to the firm, the extension will provide facilities more suited to the club’s diverse membership and to visitors.

It will also result in the club being able to offer a new and much-needed social facility for the local community.

The club intends to use the extension’s social area as a means to generate income by hiring it out for private functions, such as small weddings.

The club sits in the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site and next door to the Grade II listed Babington Hospital.

Heritage experts at Planning & Design Practice came up with a design that respected the sensitivities of its surroundings, which resulted in a successful application.
