Planning consultancy Planning & Design Practice is celebrating its 20th anniversary.

The Derby headquartered company provides town planning services, architectural expertise and specialised heritage advice.

According to the firm, since being founded by Jonathan Jenkin in 2002, the business has gone on to generate more than £200 million of uplift in land value for its clients through its consents and proposals.

During the past 20 years, Planning & Design has worked with a diverse range of clients, including a number of fellow Marketing Derby Bondholders such as Matthew Montague Architects, John Smedley, Chevin Homes and Derby and Burton University Hospitals Trust.

The firm was also recently appointed as heritage planning consultants by Elvaston Castle and Garden Trust, in partnership with Derbyshire County Council, for the proposed £35 million restoration and transformation of the 321-acre Derbyshire estate.

Mr Jenkin, who sold his stake in the business last year, but retains an active role in the company as a consultant, said: “I am immensely proud of what we have achieved over the past 20 years, the clients we have helped and the problems we have solved and continue to solve.

“In the end, our work is about problem solving, understanding our client’s needs, and providing a bridge between the client and the local planning authority.”

Today, the company, which also has offices in Matlock, Sheffield and Macclesfield, is run by a board of directors made up of specialist conservation architect Lindsay Cruddas and chartered town planners Michael Bamford, Richard Pigott and Jon Millhouse.

Richard said: “The team continues to evolve with the development of our architectural team now that we are an RIBA Chartered Practice.

“While building on our expertise and experience in rural development we are increasingly working on major high-profile projects as well.

“Our aim is to build on and enhance the reputation established over the last 20 years.”
