Waste firm teams up with litter picking group

Metal recycling and waste management specialist Ward has partnered with a community group to support their efforts to clean up a Derbyshire town.

The firm’s waste management partnership with Chesterfield Litter Pickers will see Ward take in all the rubbish bags collected by the litter picking team free of charge, as well as providing access to its online customer portal.

This means they can accurately measure tonnage, the types of waste collected and track where the recycling is going.

In addition, Ward is sponsoring £1,500 towards personal protective equipment, including high vis jackets with logos and a QR code for people to find out more information about getting involved.

As part of its wider social value programme, Ward employees also have two volunteering days per year which they use to support charity and community activities.

Local staff are being encouraged to use these to support Chesterfield Litter Pickers.

Dan Egner, operations manager at Ward’s Chesterfield site, said: “As a business we are keen to work with local volunteer projects and community groups that have a positive social impact on the local area.

“We want to make sure that our contribution gives something back to the community. That’s why when the team from Chesterfield Litter Pickers approached us it seemed like a perfect fit.”
