Tree firm extends a branch to kids’ charity
A tree growing enterprise has announced a new scheme that will benefit Derbyshire Children’s Holiday Centre.
Under the scheme, people will be able to buy a tree from Co-Treetment, which helps companies and individuals offset their CO2 by planting trees, for £10, with half donated to the holiday centre.
The firm has also paid to sponsor a child to attend the charity’s holiday centre in Skegness.
The holiday centre has been going for 131 years and gives five-day stays to children from all over Derbyshire who might not otherwise get a break, due to financial hardship or other reasons such as being a young carer.
It costs the charity £454 to send one child on a seaside break, which welcomes nominated children between March and October each year.
Alan Grimadell, chair of the Derbyshire Children’s Holiday Centre, said: “I am absolutely delighted with this new partnership with Co-Treetment.
“It’s a brilliantly simple idea to do something positive for the environment while benefiting the children who so badly need the service our charity offers.”
